The Nine-Oh is a choice option for surfers wanting a nimble fin for maximum turning and performance. It’s a constant turner, and really frees up your board to allow easier maneuvering. Fun fin fitted for mid lengths to logs and 2 + 1 options. And “Oh”, by the way, the principal called and said it is 1 + 2, not 2 + 1. The 1 came before the 2, right? Either way you call it, it works!  

Modified in the 1980s the base is set to 5.5” making this the most agile and petite fin we carry. This narrower baseline allows you to really swish your board around and opens up your steering radius, bringing turns to life. But as we know, the less base and more turning you add means taking away some speed from the fin. Heavier surfers might feel the desire for a + 2 side fin addition to balance this especially on a longboard. Then again, they might just feel right at home swinging turns around on the Nine-Oh as a 1.  

The Nine-Oh matches well with your fun board, shorter to bigger mid length, longboard, mini mals, eggs and more. Not just dedicated to longboards, this fin fits on boards shorter than 7’ to 8’ and up sizes too. Featuring a stiff flex as no real extra turning advantages need to be added to this little pocket rocket. Fin screw to the front means you can fit the fin as far back in the box as needed for added stability.   

Think of those smaller summer days when you just want to free up the longboarding in the small stuff. Or trying new lines on your mid length on a fun day of surf. Bigger days with a looser fin, these are all good options bringing the Nine-Oh into play. Groms on longboards will be stoked on the lighter feel this fin brings on a wave.  

In all the Nine-Oh is a fun multi-functional fin to mix and match around on an array of surfboards. If more ease of turning and performance surfing is your goal the Nine-Oh will be a good choice. This particular template was designed with the typically smaller sized surf that characterizes Honolulu’s waters in mind. This fin is great to explore on different board shapes since it is such an adaptable and compatible size.
